What is Microcredit?

Microcredit originated in Bangladesh in the 1970s. In Quebec, microcredit was introduced in the 1990s. This business financing practice is designed to provide access to credit and local support to marginalized populations, people on the sidelines of conventional business financing networks. The main objective is to enable these people to start a business and thus generate income and create jobs in the region.

Community credit: a global approach

Community credit in Quebec is distinguished by a comprehensive approach that aims to meet the economic and social needs of individuals. While Accès Microcrédit Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine support is mainly called on to support the establishment of new businesses, it is also available to expand or consolidate existing ones. In either case, the financial support offered is flexible and adapted to the realities of our entrepreneurs.

What sets AMCGÎM apart in its offering:

No excluded sectors

However, the project must be financially viable. In addition, the potential market must not already be saturated or close to becoming saturated.

Small loan strategy

In fact, even $1,000 can make all the difference for making a business project a reality.

Investment committees, sharing expertise

Promoters are at the heart of our support, when applying for a loan, promoters come and present their project to an investment committee made up of entrepreneurs from their MRC. This approach emphasizes local autonomy.(in each MRC)
